The Breastfeeding Resource Guide

Provides Breastfeeding Services/Resources/Classes for WIC in Cherokee, Spartanburg, Union, Greenville and Pickens counties; supervises breastfeeding peer counselors.

St. Francis Eastside offers a very informative Prenatal Breastfeeding Class. This 3 hour class is taught by a board certified lactation consultant and helps ready moms with information. We encourage dads to come too. The classes are held the first Thursday at 6pm and third Sunday at 2 pm of each month. Please call to pre-register. (864) 675-4400

Our Lactation Supply Center, located in the gift shop on the first floor, has many hard to find lactation items at competitive prices including: Medela Pump in Style breastpumps, pump accessories, Medela nursing bras, nursing gowns, and specialty items needed for breastfeeding difficulties. Nicky Bradford is our certified bra fitter located in the lactation center. To schedule a bra fitting please call 675-4089, Monday through Friday
9-5. Specialized help from a board certified lactation consultant is also available.

The Lactation Services department at St. Francis Eastside is designed to help breastfeeding mothers by providing active services such as: inpatient support, prenatal breast assessment (by appointment), prenatal breastfeeding class, outpatient services (by appointment), weight checks (by appointment), phone consultations, breastfeeding supplies, pump rentals and purchases, and consultations for all lactating mothers.

St. Francis Eastside rents Medela's Symphony pumps, Lactina pumps and Baby Weigh Scales. Please call for pricing. Many Medela pump accessories and supplies are also available.

Our Breastfeeding Support Group is free and open to all nursing mothers in the Upstate community. The group meets the 1st Tuesday of each month from 10-11:30am and the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30pm at St. Francis Eastside in classroom 201. The group is staffed by Board Certified Lactation Consultants. There is a scale available for weight checks and to do a feed and weigh. A feed and weigh is when you weigh your baby before and after nursing to confirm milk intake.

I have been a board certified lactation consultant for 4 years now. I really enjoy my job. I work at St. Francis Eastside. I majored in Nutrition and Food Science at Clemson University and got my Master's in Nutrition from the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City Kansas. I worked in the Kansas City WIC program for 2 years before moving back home. I completed a special Lactation internship to allow me to become a board certified lactation consultant and I worked as a Pediatric Dietitian for 2 years before accepting my current position.
