Mary Black Memorial Hospital - The Birthing Center

The Birthing Center’s Lactation Services Department offers the following support services to assist breastfeeding mothers:
• Board certified lactation consultant on staff
• Nurses who are trained to provide lactation assistance
• Breast-feeding education classes each month
• Telephone warm line to provide personalized breastfeeding advice after discharge
• Lactation Consults by appointment
• Breast pump rental program

McLeod Resource Center

The McLeod Resource Center provides valuable health education material and resources for the community.

All the Best

All The Best is a Columbia area practice that offers prenatal education and breastfeeding support. Prenatal classes are available to anyone in the community, with the content applicable to any birth setting. Breastfeeding support takes place in the family home, unless and office consult is prefered. Support is only offered by Registered Lactation Consultants.
In addition, All The Best is pleased to offer educational trainings for healthcare staff, public speaking, and even a freelance writing service for patient or organizational needs.

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System

The Lactation Services Department at Spartanburg Regional is designed to help and support breastfeeding mothers by providing active services including: inpatient support, prenatal consultation, prenatal breastfeeding class, outpatient postartum consultation, phone consultations and consultations for all breastfeeding mothers.
The Lactation Service is staffed by Debbie Costello RN,IBCLC who has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant for 14 years. She recently moved from Gainesville, Florida to live in the Upstate and continue to work with mothers and babies.

Linda Knox Pitts

Provides Breastfeeding Services/Resources/Classes for WIC in Cherokee, Spartanburg, Union, Greenville and Pickens counties; supervises breastfeeding peer counselors.

Debbie Costello RN.IBCLC

Debbie Costello RN,IBCLC has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant for 14 years. April 2007 I moved to the Upstate to work at Spartanburg Regional, from Gainesville, Florida. I am the Past President of FLCA (Florida Lactation Consultant Association). I have spent most of my professional life working with mothers and babies and I continue to learn from each family. I have 2 adult daughters and 1 grand daughter who all live in Florida. I love to knit and enjoy my Book Club group and active in the Episcopal Church.

Denise Altman is a private practice lactation consultant and nurse educator. She currently owns and operates All The Best in Columbia, South Carolina. Her business operates on a three tier system; prenatal education, lactation support and professional resourcing. She is also a freelance writer, focusing on education materials, informative articles, essays and creative non-fiction. On a personal note, Denise is the mother of three children.

Mandy Frost

I have been a board certified lactation consultant for 4 years now. I really enjoy my job. I work at St. Francis Eastside. I majored in Nutrition and Food Science at Clemson University and got my Master's in Nutrition from the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City Kansas. I worked in the Kansas City WIC program for 2 years before moving back home. I completed a special Lactation internship to allow me to become a board certified lactation consultant and I worked as a Pediatric Dietitian for 2 years before accepting my current position.

The MUSC Lactation Consultation Service is staffed by advanced practice nurses, either nurse midwives and/or nurse practitioners, who are Masters prepared and certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.

We see mothers in the hospital as well as in our out patient clinic.
